The Popular® Brooklyn Half, the largest half-marathon in the country, is an iconic 13.1-mile journey through the amazing borough of Brooklyn. The race starts near the Brooklyn Museum and ends at a finish line on the Coney Island boardwalk.

Registration for the 2018 Popular® Brooklyn Half will open on Wednesday, January 31, at 12:00 noon ET.
Runners may claim their guaranteed entry during a two-week advance registration window from January 9 to January 23. Runners who have earned guaranteed entry must claim their entry during this window.
You can also guarantee your entry by signing up to run with NYRR's Team for Kids.
Head to Pier 2 at Brooklyn Bridge Park for the Popular® Brooklyn Half Pre-Party presented by New Balance. Pick up your race materials, including your bib (which includes your timing tag), New Balance tech shirt, and official bag-check bag that you can use to check your race-day clothing.
The venue is right on the water and includes five acres of recreational space and sports facilities, all with amazing views of Manhattan! Check back closer to race day for more details.
Be sure to stop by MCU Park after the race to celebrate your accomplishment and enjoy food, music, and festivities with fellow runners and friends at the Popular® Brooklyn Half After-Party.
Photos will be captured and provided by Gameface a couple of days following the race. Visit gameface.photos/events and search the race name to receive access to your photos. Digital copies may be downloaded for free and prints will be available for purchase.
Cheer on the kids as they get the chance to take on the Coney Island boardwalk, one of Brooklyn’s most iconic spots. The Rising New York Road Runners at the Popular® Brooklyn Half is a one-mile race and all participants will receive an official souvenir. Check back soon for more information.
The NYRR Pace Team, wearing their signature white and blue striped singlets, will run even splits through all 13.1 miles of the Popular® Brooklyn Half. Check back closer to race day for information about where to find NYRR Pace Team members on race day.
A portion of this event's proceeds supports NYRR’s mission to help and inspire people through running, and benefits NYRR’s youth and community programs.
Start near the Brooklyn Museum and run past the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and around Grand Army Plaza before entering Prospect Park. After a loop around the park, exit from the southwest corner onto Ocean Parkway and cruise toward the world-famous Coney Island for a triumphant finish on the boardwalk.
In the interest of safety, and to allow Brooklyn streets to reopen as scheduled, the Popular® Brooklyn Half will have a three-hour time limit. Participants who are not able to maintain a 13:45-per-mile pace (based on the time when the last runner in wave 2 crosses the start line) will have the opportunity to board a sweep bus starting at mile 7 for transport to the post-finish area at Coney Island.
These participants may choose instead to continue running on the sidewalks, but they should be aware that fluid stations and other course amenities may not be available, although they will be able to cross the finish line. These runners may not be recorded as official finishers; they can email [email protected] to request 9+1 TCS New York City Marathon qualifying credit for the race. Your race-weekend experience starts at the Popular® Brooklyn Half Pre-Party Presented by New Balance at Pier 2 in Brooklyn Bridge Park, 150 Furman Street in Brooklyn.
Pick up your race materials, including your race number (which includes your timing tag) and the official bag that you can use to check your race-day clothing. The Pre-Party will be held on Wednesday, May 16, Thursday, May 17, and Friday, May 18. Check back closer to race week for a schedule of hours.
You must have a photo ID to pick up your race number (bib).

Bib pickup will be in Brooklyn. Please note there will be no race-day pickup.
We strongly recommend public transportation to the start. For the latest updates, visit mta.info/weekender. There is no parking at the start.
Plan to arrive at the start at least one hour before bag check closes if you are checking a bag, or at least one hour before the corrals for your wave close if you are not checking a bag.
Awards will be available to the top three men and women overall, as well as in age and gender groups as explained in this article. A list of all award winners will be posted in the results for each race.
All finishers will receive a medal.

To be eligible for NYRR member prize money, participants must have an active NYRR membership for six months prior to race day.
Athletes who have been suspended for doping by a governing body are not eligible to participate in, and should not apply for entry in, NYRR races. Extenuating circumstances may be reviewed by the NYRR Race Director.
A small number of entries are available for faster athletes who wish to run the 2018 Popular® Brooklyn Half. Athletes meeting the half-marathon standard (men: 1:05:00; women: 1:15:00) are eligible for complimentary entry to the race. Performances must have been achieved between January 1, 2017 and April 1, 2018. Athletes outside of these standards who enter the race via the guaranteed entry process or through general registration will be considered for the Seeded Athlete start corral on a case-by-case basis.
